“What would you think of a woman student who entered the college quad wearing an earring stamped with the mushroom cloud of Hiroshima on it? What would you think of a church building adorned with a fresco of the mass graves of Auschwitz, the worst of the Nazi death camps? Even to ask questions like that produces a kind of shudder of embarrassment.
